The Essentials – A Guide to Essential Oils for Emotional Balance
Have you ever smelt a perfume that made you feel ill ?
For every smell that makes you feel ill there is one that will have a polar opposite effect on you and could make you fee a whole array of different feelings from happy, to energized, to calming, even confidant!
I have put together a list of some essential oils that will help elevate your mood and restore emotional balance to your life.
I find the best way to apply essential oils like lavender I put some drops in a small spray canister with water and spray it on linen.
Also I like to add a few drops to a hot bath and breath in the aromas, this is especially good for my young boys when they are excited and I’d like to calm them before bed. (make sure they don’t drink the water and please make sure to check the potency of the oil you are using most are highly concentrated)
Also burners and vaporizers are a great way to fill the house with a beautiful smell and relax other family members that are under stress.

Prada A/W 2013 sunglasses
Prada Fall/Winter 2012-2013 Women’s Eyewear collection expresses luxury and sensuality within a futuristic setting, where the evocation of geometric space is immediately evident.
The shapes are compact in size and inspired by early 20th century styles, evolving into cat’s eye lines embellished by coloured stones.
Playing with combinations of materials, the collection presents acetate and metal merging into sophisticated structures, where the role of key elements is played by curved or straight upper bars. The resulting creations are invariably expressions of refined femininity.
I will be rocking these timeless glasses. I love them!

New York Street Style
While the runways looked to fall 2013, the New York Fashion Week attendees showed everyone how to be fashion forward during the winter. The overwhelming trend? Basic colors like black with pops of vibrant color. Take a look through Tommy Ton’s shots for Style.com to see how fashion week goers kept things bright through the chilly snow…

Tom Ford Private Blend Lipsticks
THERE’S BEEN a lot of debate on the beauty blogs about whether Tom Ford’s £35 luxury Private Blend lipsticks, launched back in April, are worth it. So we decided to go and check them out for ourselves.
PACKAGING AND TUBE
Wonderful old-school Hollywood glamour and yes, feels good to pick-up and hold. Extremely pleasing to the eye a this is the kind of lipstick you want to nonchalantly pull out of your handbag while on a dinner date to re-apply.
I also got to check out the new Tom Ford Black Orchid Limited Edition collection which comprises of a dark Black Orchid lipstick, a glossy Black Orchid nail polish and pressed perfume. All divinely packaged in black. Two coats of the nail polish on short nails gave a strong autumn look and have lasted without chipping nearly four days, which is a record in my book.
…
So, yes, the Tom Ford products may be pricey but you are paying for quality, long-lasting products in luxe packaging. Every girl who loves her makeup deserves at least a taste of this.
Jawbone Jambox Wireless Speaker
When the courier arrived this morning I knew what exciting little parcel he would be delivering.
My chic new Jambox! This Hi-Fi Audio wireless is the smallest, best-sounding wireless speaker and speakerphone around.
Two highly powerful acoustic drivers and ultra-small dome produce a wide audio spectrum.
Not only can you take it out to the beach with you but you can play great music anywhere you do not have speakers in your home or other with great sound.
I like to play music in my bedroom and I haven’t hooked up the in-ceiling speakers yet so my only option is to play music through my appletv (which plays out of the tv speakers).
With the jambox I can have my laptop on my dresser and the jambox on my sidetable playing tunes.
It holds up to 10 hours of power and can be updated with apps, software and new features via Jawbone’s MyTalk portal.
I suggest you check it out if you’re looking for a wireless speaker.

- Cucumber juice is a common remedy. It should be applied daily around eyes and washed off with plain water after 15 minutes.
- Mixing potato juice with cucumber juice in equal quantities helps if there is puffiness along with dark circles. Follow the same procedure.
- Dark circles can also be treated by mixing cucumber juice with lemon juice in equal quantities. Apply daily and wash off with water after 15 minutes.

Purple Fashion Magazine
Purple is a French fashion, art and culture magazine.
The magazine was founded in 1992 by Elein Fleiss and Olivier Zahm.
It was the result of a reaction against the superficial glamour of the 1980′s inspired by magazines like Interview, and Helmut Newton’s Illustrated, but with the philosophy of what usually is referred to as anti-fashion.
And yet when I search ‘Purple Fashion’ mag nation for a subscription it comes under the subtitle mainstream fashion - I am not too sure the editors will be happy about this. Although it seems that anti-fashion has become more fashionable than ever!
That said I enjoy reading its online version it is a beautiful composition of art and fashion with a little bit of a cheeky attitude towards mainstream anything which I like.
Go check it out online or order a copy from mag nation.
Here are some excerpts from the most recent issue featuring publicity shots with handwritten text by the artists.

Collections – Jessica Aggrey Jewellery
Yesterday I was given an opportunity to view the stunning Jessica Aggrey’s beautiful jewelry line.
Jessica Aggrey’s inspiration comes from a real passion for jewels and gems.
“Growing up in Ghana, West Africa was the start of my lifelong obsession in the way people adorn themselves,” she says, “My paternal grandmother was a gold trader on the coast and growing up I was surrounded by women with great style and an appreciation for jewellery.”
Aggrey has been designing and creating her unique jewellery designs in New Zealand since the early 90’s. After a Diploma at Auckland’s MIT, she set up her first jewellery studio, Tempietto, on Queen St while in her early twenties. She later opened her well-loved store Mettle 22 in Ponsonby where she traded for several years.
Aggrey’s design work is unique in New Zealand and melds her Kiwi love of nature, with the stunning and glamorous adornment she witnessed in her father’s African homeland. All Aggrey’s pieces are hand crafted in both New Zealand and her second home, Bali. Each one is handmade and hand finished, using sterling silver, gold, semi-precious and precious stones.
Jessica Aggrey Jewellery has a classic refinement with a bold current edge, transcending the whims of fashion and creating instant classics & modern heirlooms.

Akira Isogawa & Designer Rugs
Last week Akira Isogawa showed his range with an exclusive fashion show at Nathan Club in Auckland in association with Rolls Royce.
There was a beautiful suncronicity of beautifully-worked textiles, flowing silk, and colors.
The event also showcased his collaboration with Designer Rugs this beautiful ‘floor art’ which was hung on the walls turning the venue into an art gallery.
The rugs will be available exclusively from Designer Rugs in Parnell, Auckland.
About the designer: Akira Isogawa is one of Australia’s most recognized fashion designers, with his Japanese-inspired collections sought after in every fashion capital in the world.
Born in Japan, he immigrated to Australia in 1986 and studied fashion at the Sydney Institute of Technology. Drawing inspiration from contemporary Japanese design.
Here are a couple of his philosophy on design:
“A garment can transcend, giving it a soul.
“I see craftsmanship as an implement with which to realise one’s vision. Past, present and future; that slogan continues in almost everything around which my work evolves. Timeless beauty and femininity in my design is profound, in a way for the wearer to express their inner soul.”

The Rolling Stones Concert
Wow! What a show, it was at Barcley Center which is Jay-Z’s new venue for the Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn New York.
The venue is incredible (filled to the max with 19,000 seats) I wouldn’t expect any less from Jay-Z!
The Rolling Stones were on form for their ”50 & Counting” tour, from Micks dance antics to Keith Richards and Ron Woods sinuous riffs for which they are renowned.
The Stones are always something to see. They may be the best stadium act ever.
And they always seem to have throw some extra spice into the mix these days by means of guest acts.
For this show it was ”I’m Going Down” Gary Clark Jr. an incredibly talented guitarist and Mary J. Blige who also appeared on stage for their UK tour.
There was talk of former Stones Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor showing up but sadly they didn’t. Not that the band needed it
The evening climaxed – predictably, satisfyingly – with “Sympathy for the Devil,” “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” (with full choir), and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.”
Then the inevitable cherry on the sundae: “Satisfaction.” Which is – without question – what we got!
And on a fashion note Mick Jagger was looking amazing, changing at least 3x during the show. Mick is styled by his longtime love, stylist/designer L’Wren Scott who desiged his costumes for the Rolling Stones global tour.
I was located inside the tongue where there were at most 70 people so there was plenty of room to dance and we weren’t all squished.
The tongue wrapped around us and Jagger took off circling around us as he went out to address the rest of crowd.
With my elbows on the stage it was incredible to see every expression (and every wrinkle) on Mick’s and Ron’s faces.
I could see just how much they were enjoying themselves on stage it seemed to come together so effortlessly, not that I expected any less after 50 years of practice!
A few shots from the show etc….
